
CEO and ChairmanKarl Ulrich Garnadt, born on 19 January 1957, has been CEO and Chairman of Lufthansa Cargo AG since 01 January 2011.
Karl Ulrich Garnadt began his career at Lufthansa as a commercial airline trainee in 1979. After completing the three-year programme, he spent one year in Controlling before moving to International Route Planning and Management, where he worked from 1983 to 1987. Karl Ulrich Garnadt spent the next four years based in Frankfurt as Product Manager for the Southeast Asia/Australia region. In 1991 he moved to Lufthansa Cargo as Product Manager responsible for the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, a post that he held until 1995. From then until 1999 he was in charge of Network Management at Lufthansa Cargo. He was subsequently appointed Senior Vice President Network Management at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines in Frankfurt. In October 2004 Karl Ulrich Garnadt was appointed Group Representative and Head of Hub Management Munich. In this position, he was responsible for station management, commercial management, ground services and processes as well as for the ongoing development of the Munich hub. In addition to his duties as disciplinary manager for crew stationed in Munich, he was also responsible in a cross-functional capacity for Commercial Airport Relations for Lufthansa’s entire passenger business.
Karl Ulrich Garnadt has been a member of the Board of Lufthansa German Airlines from January 2007 to December 2010. As head of the Hub Management & Passenger Services division, he was responsible for cabin crew, hub management at Frankfurt and Munich (including network planning and management), other Lufthansa stations in Germany and their point-to-point services as well as Commercial Airport Relations at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines.
Karl Ulrich Garnadt is married and has one son.
