2000 Hall of Fame Recipient
Guenter Rohrmann, formerly Chairmain and CEO of AEI and now Vice-Chairman of Danzas/AEI since the acquisition of AEI by Deutsche Post has had a broad and outstanding career in the air cargo industry.
His career began in Frankfurt, Germany as an apprentice with a local freight forwarding company. His tenure with AEI in Germany began in 1961 where he served as Country Manager-Germany and Vice President-Europe/Middle East. White still in Germany, Mr. Rohrmann was a member of the traffic advisory board of the local Chamber of Commerce and the German Forwarders Association.
In 1982, Mr. Rohrmann joined AEI in the U.S. at its corporate headquarters in Darien, Connecticut, as Vice President and General Manager for the company's North American Operations. In December 1984, he was named executive Vice President - International. Within a year, he was elected AEI's president and chief operating officer. On February 1, 1989, Mr. Rohrmann was named president and chief executive officer. He has served as Director of AEI since 1985.
His career spans global experience and a leadership role in a forwarding industry challenged by technological and competitive change. Among the first to recognize the changing role of the forwarder, he transformed a typical air forwarder into a global logistics company. Today, that company - AEI merged with Danzas is a world leader in global logistics with acknowledged capability in every step of the logistic process. By acquisition, merger and leadership he has led the way to the forwarders new role in the air cargo century.
