Richard M Jackson was separated from the U.S. Navy on 1945 as Lt. Cmdr. after distinguished World War II combat service aboard the aircraft carrier PRINCETON. That same year he joined American Airlines where he served for 13 years in management roles in the Operations Department. From 1958 to 1960 he was associated with Laurance S. Rockefeller on investment capital operations. In 1960 he became president of Seaboard and Western Airlines, a Rockefeller investment. During his 20 year leadership of Seaboard, which became Seaboard World Airlines that company grew in revenues from 21 million dollars annually to 260 million dollars. It became the leading Transatlantic Air Cargo Airline. He pioneered the introduction of blocked space and rear end loading and was recognized for marketing innovations and competitiveness. In 1980 Seaboard was purchased by the Flying Tigers Line, from which he retired in 1981 as Chairman of the Executive Committee. In the formation days of Air Cargo Development he provided leadership and stimulation to this new industry. A past president of TIACA, he continues to be active in industry affairs, and serves on the Presidents Council.
