Michael A. Chowdry is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Atlas Air, Inc., an international air cargo company that he founded in 1992. With over 20 years of airline industry experience, Chowdry was chairman and president of Aeronautics Leasing, Inc. (ALI), a company he started in 1984 that leased passenger airplanes to airlines. Born in Pakistan, Chowdry's interest in the airline business started shortly after he immigrated to the United States in the mid 1970s. Additionally he founded the first Colorado commuter airline to have a United Airlines partnership and accomplished one of his first major deals - purchasing seven 727s from Frontier Airlines and selling them to Flying Tigers, an air freight company. Chowdry, a graduate of the University of Minnesota enjoys flying, hunting, and fishing.
