Joseph F. Sutter:

Senior Counselor, Sales
Commercial Airplanes
The Boeing Company

Joseph F. Sutter was selected as a recipient of The International Air Cargo Association's 2002 Hall of Fame Award in recognition of his innovative design and development of the Boeing 747 and for his dedicated efforts toward the development of the air cargo industry throughout the world.

Mr. Sutter is recognized as one of the pre-eminent aircraft designers of all time and was the B747 chief engineer. The 747F is the only commercial jet designed from the start as a freighter. The aircraft incorporated such innovations as the large side and nose cargo door for outsize loads, high cube pallet capability, advanced mechanized handling systems and other features that revolutionized cargo flows on trans-Pacific and trans-Atlantic routes for the last three decades.
