Mission:
The operational and commercial performance of the air cargo community and the contribution it can make to business competitiveness, world trade, and economic development will depend on the knowledge and capabilities of its workforce and management.
These, in turn, will reflect available resources and levels of research,
training, education and information sharing.
Committee Mission Statement
Facilitating development and dissemination of industry-specific knowledge
are basic objectives of TIACA’s mission. The Education Committee takes
specific responsibility for these while focusing on air logistic trends,
technologies and public policies affecting the success of TIACA’s Membership.
The Education Committee considers three key areas in support of this
mission.
- Academic
Scholarship
Academic Scholarship
is the fundamental strategy for advancing knowledge of our industry.
The primary means for accomplishing this is though sponsorship of
scholarships. These endeavors have targeted Ph.D. and Masters level
students as well as providing cash prizes for research papers. Over
the next 5 years we look to increase scholarships in number as well
as levels of academia. Additionally, the scope of solicitation and
eligibility for consideration will be broadened so as to elicit greater
numbers of applications as well as broader ranges of topics.
- Academic
Enrichment and Endowments
Academic
Enrichment is the elevation of the air logistics industry in the hierarchy
of educational institutions. The major vehicle for accomplishing this
will be through the endowment (or partial endowment) of chairs at
various institutions. In addition to TIACA only sponsorship co-branding
will be investigated as a means to increase the possible number of
chairs endowed.
- Enhancement
of Member Resources
Enhancement of
Resources for members is a prime goal of this committee. Various methods
to accomplish this goal are under study and or are currently in place.
Some examples are the Weekly Regulatory Update and a possible the
Online Resource Center. Additional services such as these will be
developed over the next 5 years.
