THE TIACA MANIFESTO
CHAPTER FOUR: CONCLUSION
The key issues considered in this document are
the areas in which TIACA will concentrate its efforts. Our role is proactive, to
act as an industry catalyst, addressing problems head-on. Each industry
component is directly or indirectly affected by these various issues. Each of
these issues is closely tied to one another and contributes to the successful
flow of cargo.
TIACA, as the only truly international,
inter-professional air cargo organization, must play a pivotal role in
addressing these industry challenges. Our role is to clearly identify the needs
and viewpoints of our industry partners and to ensure that their voice is heard
within government, by equipment manufacturers, and above all, by service
suppliers.
TIACA can perhaps be aptly described as a
threefold dynamic force:
- The air cargo industry's ear that listens to
shippers needs
- A guiding hand for all partners throughout the
air cargo chain
- The true voice of air cargo
Having taken an in-depth look at the air cargo
industry, identifying its problem areas, and proposing solutions, it is time to
touch upon its future.
The 21st century will herald the
dominance of air cargo as a leading factor in global marketing and as an
instrument in the expansion of world trade. It is expected that air cargo will
dominate world trade in the same way that clipper ships, railroads, automobiles,
and jet aircraft gave rise to new opportunities, new service areas, and created
new economic benefits.
With the Air Cargo Century now only just over one
year away, we are challenged to think beyond the present, to learn from the
past, and break through to a new future.
Air cargo is an integral part of world trade. The
air cargo industry is not simply a provider of air transport services, but a
total logistics chain that must listen and adapt to the specific needs of its
customers. The roles of each industry component must be redefined and all
sectors must pull together to create a seamless traffic flow. Only then can the
industry realize its full economic potential.
