Ram Menen is Senior Vice President Cargo, Emirates Airline, and has headed
the cargo division of that airline since its inception in 1985. He began
his aviation career in 1976 at Kuwait Airways, and later headed the British
Airways’ cargo operations in Kuwait. In 1984 he set up and managed
an airfreight forwarding operation in Dubai. He is a founder of The International
Air Cargo Association, and was its Chairman/CEO in 1995-1996. Menen received
a “Special Achievement Award” from the International Freighting
Weekly in 2000. In 2002 Air Cargo News USA named him “Air Cargo Executive
of the Year,” and in 2003 he received an award for “Excellence
in Promoting East-West Trade” at the Air Cargo Americas International
Congress in Miami. This year Air Cargo World magazine listed him as one
of “Air Cargo’s Most Influential Leaders”, and World Trade
Magazine named him one of the “Fabulous Fifty” who are transforming
world trade.
