The following speech
was presented by the Chairman of the Board, Dora Kay, at the China Air Cargo Summit
2004 on June 7, in Shanghai, China
The
mission of the International Air Cargo Association is two-fold:
to advance the interests of the air cargo industry, and to strengthen its contribution
to world trade expansion.
Today I would like to concentrate on the second aspect of this
mission since air cargo is not only a facilitator but, more importantly, a driver
of a nation’s ability to produce goods and services that can compete in
a global economy. As such, an efficient, reliable and economical air cargo industry
helps to create jobs, raise income levels, attract foreign investment, promote
higher standards of living, and in general, act as an engine for economic development.
