ACF 2004 Off to its Fastest Start Ever
With 58% of exhibit space in ACF 2004 already reserved -- thirteen months prior to opening day-- TIACA is off to its best start in the promotion of its biennial exposition in over four decades. “Over 230 booths have been reserved, just six weeks after promotion commenced on the 22nd International Air Cargo Exposition,” according to Daniel Fernandez, Secretary-General of TIACA. TIACA’s biennial Forum and Exposition, regarded as the “world’s premier air cargo industry event” will be held in Bilbao, Spain from September 14-17, 2004.

Reflections from the Hall of Fame
Cargolux Airlines International traces its beginnings to Loftleidir Icelandic Airlines. Loftleidir Icelandic was operating transatlantic flights to Luxembourg as a main gateway to Europe in 1969 with newley-introduced DC-8-63 jets replacing its old Canadair CL-44 aircraft.
The Sun is Rising
The past 30 months have been unsettling for commercial aviation, in general, and air cargo, in particular. The tech bust, a prolonged global economic downturn, 9/11, terrorism, SARS and the Iraq war clobbered the industry. Increased cargo security measures (many of them not yet fully fleshed out) have slowed and sometimes disrupted aviation-based supply chains, weakening the competitive advantage firms gained through speed and agility.
