Italian company lands Romanian airport contract
Jan 21, 2008 (newstodate): The Italian Astaldi Group has landed a Euro 76 million contract for the third phase of the project for the development and modernisation of Bucharest Otopeni International Airport, Romania.
Finavia: total cargo and mail volumes in 2007
Jan 22, 2008 (newstodate): Finavia, managing 25 airports in Finland, including Helsinki Vantaa Airport, saw international cargo volumes up by 5.6 percent in 2007. In total Finavia recorded 133,3544 tonnes of international cargo, plus 3,158 tonnes of domestic cargo. Mail volumes accrued to 14,810 tonnes, domestic and international, an increase by 1.6 percent.
US plans for new logistics center in Russia
Jan 23, 2008 (newstodate): Lipetsk has been selected as the site for a US project to build a new multi-modal logistics center in Russia.
Competition: more airlines fly more to Israel
Jan 24, 2008 (newstodate): Israel is seeing increasing competition among airlines operating in the market. The number of airlines operating scheduled flights to and from Israel increased from 33 in 2005 to 36 in 2006, and reaching 38 in 2007. Also the airlines operating scheduled servicse to Israel have increased frequencies and aircraft size.
Romanian carrier to expand business in 2008
Jan 25, 2008 (newstodate): In Februiary 27, 2008, the Romanian regional carrier Carpatair plans to launch flights between Timisoara and Odessa, Ukraine. Initially offering three flights per week, the carrier will add a further three flights from March 25. Plans are also advanced for new routes to Kiev, Ukraine, and Thessaloniki, Greece, to be served six and three times per week, respectively.
