TREND - Freight traffic up in Nov – ACI
- (WorldACD) - Airports Council International (ACI) said total freight handled worldwide last month increased by 3.6 pct compared to November 2006.
International freight was up by 4.7 percent, the exception being North America “where a slowing economy and preference for alternative modes of transport contributed to the 1.5 percent decrease,” ACI reported.

AEA-ACI welcome consensus on aviation security
- BRUSSELS, (WorldACD) - The representative bodies of the European airline and airport sectors, the Association of European Airlines and Airports Council International Europe, have welcomed the consensus reached in the political process to revise the regulatory framework for aviation security.
In a statement on Monday, the AEA said the agreement reached between the European Parliament, Commission and Council “paves the way for an overhaul of the 2002 legislation, adopted under great political and time pressure in response to perceived threats in the aftermath of the attacks on the US in September 2001.”

Crowded skies for Asia-Pacific airlines: CAPA
- SYDNEY, Jan 15 (WorldACD) - Airlines operating in the Asia-Pacific face one of the most competitive environments for many years as strong growth collides with a potential global economic slowdown, the Australian reported, citing a leading aviation think tank.
The Sydney-based Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation said yesterday that a surge in capacity being brought on by Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern carriers would result in one of the busiest years of new airline activity in the region this decade.

BA flight lands short of runway at Heathrow
