Russia to boost its logistics infrastructure
Dec 4, 2007 (newstodate): Russia plans to set up 70 transport logistic centres with a total capacity of handling 100 million tonnes of cargo a year. The plans have been revealed by the Russian Ministry of Transport. The new infrastructure will be developed on the basis of existing transport junctions including Moscow, St Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Astrakhan, Rostov-on-Don, and Yekaterinburg. Realisation of the plan will require investments corresponding to about 4.8 percent of the country's GDP, and be shouldered by state, regional governments, and private funds.
