Canada seals air transport agreement with Singapore
OTTAWA, Nov 9 (WorldACD) - The Canadian government has announced the conclusion of a bilateral air transport agreement with the Republic of Singapore which replaces a temporary arrangement that has governed air services for several years. “The agreement is a modern framework for air services that permits any number of air carriers from either country to operate non-stop passenger and all-cargo scheduled air services as frequently as desired, between any city in Canada and Singapore,” Canada’s Ministry of Transport said in a statement.
Airbus gets mega order from Emirates
DUBAI, Nov 12 (WorldACD) – Airbus has announced that Dubai-based Emirates Airline has signed a firm contract for 81 Airbus wide-body aircraft (50 Airbus A350XWB 900, plus 20 -1000 and 11 additional A380s) in an agreement which could eventually rise to 131 aircraft.
TREND - Moderate growth in freight in Sept – ACI
GENEVA, Nov 13 (WorldACD) - Airports Council International (ACI) said total freight handled worldwide rose by 2.2 percent in September on the corresponding month last year. International freight “progressed steadily,” increasing by 4.7 percent, with the exception of North America ( -4.9 percent) but domestic markets fell by 2.8 percent with all regions reporting negative results, ACI said.
SIA, Belgium ink air services revision deal
SINGAPORE, Nov 15 (WorldACD) - Singapore and Belgium have recently concluded a revision to the Air Services Agreement for cargo services. Accoding to the agreement, which includes Seventh Freedom Traffic Rights, allows SIA Cargo to operate flights between third countries without originating from, or returning to, Singapore. With this revised agreement, Singapore Airlines Cargo has commenced B747-400 freighter services from November 1, 2007, operating once weekly between Brussels and Chicago, and twice weekly circular routings from Brussels to Chicago to Los Angeles and back to Brussels. This is the first time a Singapore carrier is utilizing Seventh Freedom Traffic Rights.
