Lufthansa can resume cargo flights
FRANKFURT, Nov 2 (WorldACD) - Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Europe's second-biggest airline, can resume cargo flights over Russia for the next two weeks as the country's government tries to force the German carrier to relocate its central Asian air-freight hub. The Lufthansa Cargo unit will be permitted to fly across Russian airspace through Nov. 14 while the German and Russian governments hold talks about moving the carrier's sorting center in Kazakhstan to a Siberian city, the countries' transport ministries said in separate statements today.
TREND- Freight traffic growth continues– IATA
GENEVA, Nov 6 (WorldACD) – The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) monthly traffic bulletin reveals that international freight grew by five percent in September. This compared with six percent growth in August but it was still well above the weak levels of growth seen in the first half of 2007, IATA said. Growth for the year-to-date improved to four percent.
Emirates SkyCargo posts revenue increase
DUBAI, Nov 7 (WorldACD) - The Emirates Airline Group's air cargo division, Emirates SkyCargo, has posted a revenue increase of 13 percent to Dhs 3.0 billion (US$ 822 million) for the first six months of the current financial year ending September 30, 2007.
IATA calls for transparency in LatAm
CANCUN, Mexico (WorldACD) - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has called for greater transparency in the Latin American airline industry to form a sounder basis for key policy decisions. IATA partnered with the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC) to release a series of new economic studies during the annual general meeting of the Latin American Air Transport Association (ALTA) focused on five countries: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Panama.
