Secretary General's Update - ACAS Pilot Extended

Posted By Administration, Friday, November 11, 2016
The U.S. ACAS pilot has been extended for another year, through July 26, 2017 (click [here] for the official notice). This action was taken to allow additional time for the two lead agencies, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to allow the agencies to finalize a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would shift ACAS from a voluntary pilot to a mandatory program.

TIACA continues to collaborate with CBP, TSA and our industry colleagues to address the many outstanding issues related to ACAS. Last week, we met to discuss next steps in preparing to test various aviation security issues, identify and track key elements, and continue providing input to the agencies on the industry’s perspective.
