TIACA would like to extend a warm welcome to its newest member RIOgaleão – Tom Jobim Rio de Janeiro International Airport.
Located 20 km from downtown Rio de Janeiro, RIOgaleão – Cargo is close to Brazil’s main auto manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and oil and gas centers. It is the best-equipped facility of its kind in Brazil and the most modern in Latin America. Covering a 115,000 sq meters, the terminal has all the infrastructure needed to receive all kinds of cargo. It is capable of handling up to 320,000 metric tons of cargo per year, including receiving and releasing imported and exported cargo.
An interesting side note, RIOgaleão Cargo will become the first logistics terminal in Latin America to achieve IATA’s CEIV Pharma certificate, for establishing best practices in the transport and storage of temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals. RIOgaleão cargo terminal is undergoing a US$6.5 renovation which started in August 2014. This includes the opening of a new cold chamber, which increased the storage capacity by three times what it was before. The new site of 11,000 square meters has two environments with different temperatures and is the only one in Brazil to count on a turret crane, providing a faster operation.
TIACA encourages its members who may be looking to expand their reach to Latin America, to consider RIOgaleão as an elite Cargo destination.
