TREND - AAPA members report rise in Feb int'l freight
KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 26 (WorldACD) - The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) has reported that international freight traffic, expressed in freight tonne kilometres (FTKs), grew by 2.4 pct in February, year-on-year.
The average cargo load factor rose 1.0 percentage point to 66.1 pct as cargo capacity grew by just 0.8 percentage point.
Commenting on the results, Andrew Herdman, AAPA’s Director General said: "In line with recent trends, international air cargo traffic recorded more modest growth, up 3.5 pct in FTK terms.
"Overall, we remain cautiously optimistic on the outlook for Asia Pacific airlines in 2008. At the same time, we are keeping a close eye on developments in the global economy, with the effects of high oil prices still ranking as the major concern.”
