Indian airport strike called off until next month

NEW DELHI, Feb 27 (WorldACD) - A strike by employees of India's state-run airports has been put off until next month, allowing authorities time to negotiate with workers on jobs, pensions and benefits.

About 14,000 employees have been agitating against the closure of state-run airports in the IT cities of Bangalore and Hyderabad, protesting against job transfers and demanding more benefits.

They say they will now wait until March 10 for the government to respond.
