Difficulties for shipments to and from Kosovo

Feb 20, 2008 (newstodate): The declaration of independence by Kosovo on February 17, 2008, has created at least temporary uncertainty over movement of shipments across the new border.
No official statements have yet been made on the issue of border-crossing of goods and shipments, but the closure of the border between Serbia and Kosovo entails a stop for transit traffic to and from Kosovo via Serbia.
Depending of the origin of the shipments, there are two more routes to get to Kosovo, excepting via Serbia. First and most frequently used is through Macedonia, and the alternative is Montenegro that is, however, also reportedly being temporarily closed after civil unrest.
Albania is also an option, but sources say it is rarely used due to the bad road conditions.
Air cargo shipments can, as before, be forwarded directly through Prishtina Airport.
