SAS to divest itself of its cargo handling company

Feb 6, 2008 (newstodate): The SAS Board has decided to divest itself of SAS Cargo's handling and terminal subsidiary, Spirit.
Spirit operates 12 cargo terminals in the Scandinavian markets, including facilities in all three capital airports.
Attention is now focused on Menzies Aviation as one potential buyer.
In April, 2006, Menzies Aviation made its first acquisition in Scandinavia, buying the entire stock in the Swedish Malmo Air Cargo.
In September, 2007, Menzies acquired Finnair's handling company Northport, active at Oslo Gardermoen and Stockholm Arlanda.
Since then, Menzies is known to have been in negotiations with Danish unions, indicating an immediate interest in establishing itself in the Danish market as well.
-We have not yet issued a press release regarding our entry into Denmark but we hope to do so as soon as we have finalised all our negotiations, Fay Turner, Menzies Aviation spokesperson, told newstodate on January 11, 2008.
