Alaska Airlines to inspect 35% of fleet

SEATTLE, Jan 29 (WorldACD) - Alaska Airlines will inspect the wing flaps of all its 737-400s after three emergency landings in the past three weeks.

The inspections won’t ground the planes, which make up 35 percent of the airline’s fleet.

The problems leading to the emergency landings, all three in Alaska, were caused by "hardware wear" in a door covering the area of the wing that houses the flaps, Alaska Airlines spokesman Paul McElroy said, the Seattle-Post Intelligencer reported.
