TREND- Freight traffic growth continues– IATA
GENEVA, Nov 6 (WorldACD) – The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) monthly traffic bulletin reveals that international freight grew by five percent in September.
This compared with six percent growth in August but it was still well above the weak levels of growth seen in the first half of 2007, IATA said.
Growth for the year-to-date improved to four percent.
With seven percent growth, Asia Pacific continues to drive the global improvement. Freight traffic carried on Middle East routes rose 8.2 percent after a fall of 3.5 percent in August but was below the double-digit levels seen over the last two years, IATA added.
On African routes, freight traffic contracted by 10.4 percent, continuing a five-month downturn due to a fall in demand in southern Africa.
