Moscow's airports dominate Russia's cargo business

Oct 5, 2007 (newstodate): Together, the airports of Moscow play a dominant role in the country's air cargo industry.
-Moscow's Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo airport generate about 50-60 percent of Russia's air cargo volumes, says Engeny Raevskiy.
-Moscow Domodedovo Airport accounts for 40-45 percent of the combined volumes of the Moscow airports, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport represents 45-50 percent, and the remaining about 10 percent is generated by Moscow Vnukovo Airport.
-The two main airports, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo, are, however, different, with most of Domodedovo's volumes comprising domestic Russian cargo, while Sheremetyevo's cargo is primarily international cargo on Aeroflot's flights.
According to Mr Raevskiy, Sheremetyevo generated about 160,000 tonnes of cargo in 2006, or 14,000 tonnes per month, and Domodedovo generated 130,000 tonnes, or 11-12,000 tonnes per month.
