TREND - Solid growth in freight in June

GENEVA, Aug 2 (WorldACD) - Total freight tonnage handled at airports
worldwide last month increased by 5.3 percent in June on the
corresponding
month last year, according to the latest monthly bulletin from Airports
Council International (ACI).

"International freight rose sharply in several regions: Africa reported
strongest growth at 15 percent followed by Latin America and Middle
East
with 12 percent and 10 percent respectively. Asia-Pacific and Europe
grew
robustly at eight percent and 5.4 percent respectively, the bulletin
revealed.

"Only North-America lagged with growth limited to 1.3 percent. Domestic
freight results remained low in most regions, excepting Latin America
and
Caribbean where it increased by 5.5 percent and North-America which
posted a
rise of 2.5 percent," the bulletin added.
