LUG wins new customer: Rossiya Russian Airlines
LUG aircargo handling, the oldest independent ground service company at Frankfurt/Main airport, has signed up a new client effective July 1, Rossiya Russian Airlines.
The Russian passenger airline based in St. Petersburg operates six times a week with aircraft from the Airbus A320 family between St. Petersburg and Frankfurt/Main. “We expect to handle some 1,000 t of cargo per year for Rossiya”, says Wolfgang Korte, CEO, LUG aircargo handling GmbH.
Rossiya Airlines Joint Stock Company is one of the leading Russian carriers and was the most punctual according to Russian statistics in the first quarter of 2012. Flying on time, delivering a high service quality and maintaining high safety standards are amongst the top priorities of the airline. The company operates 32 aircraft and carries over 3 million passengers a year. At Pulkovo airport (St. Petersburg) it handles some 40% of all flights.
“Rossiya’s company strategy is similar to ours ― with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and security. This new customer further raises our profile in the international air cargo handling market and strengthens our portfolio of passenger airlines as well as coverage of the Baltic region. LUG also counts Finnair and Air Baltic amongst its clients,” says Wolfgang Korte.
“Rossiya Russian Airlines offers an excellent solution for small express shipments to the north western region of the Russian Federation. St. Petersburg is a major trade gateway, financial and industrial centre of Russia. It is home to a growing oil and gas, shipbuilding, aerospace, automotive, high tech, and machine building industry. In addition, there is considerable trade in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, food, and textiles”, adds Patrik Tschirch, Key Account Manager, LUG aircargo handling GmbH.
