Kargosistem signs up with Corendon
Antalya-based low-cost Corendon Airlines has inked a deal under which Turkish GSSA Kargosistem will act as its cargo sales agent in the airline's home country. It will provide marketing, reservations, revenue collection and claims handling services, as well as the sales function.
Kargosistem managing director Demir Ozerman said that he will particularly targeting traffic to Amsterdam, Ercan in Cyprus, Rotterdam and the airline's German destinations. "We expect cut flowers, seeds and carpet to form a significant part of their business from Turkey," he added. "It also opens up interesting feeder and interline opportunities."
Corendon currently flies from three Turkish airports to about 90 cities across Europe and Kazakhstan. It operates a fleet of nine B737 aircraft offering a bellyhold capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes a flight.
Airline deputy general manager Batughan Karaer noted: "We believe Kargosistem's sales and office network throughout Turkey will help us to fully exploit the cargo potential for our services, to a degree that was not previously possible."
