Cathay launches Zaragoza freighter link
Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways inaugurated freighter services to the Zaragoza in north-east Spain on 15 November.
The carrier is flying a B747-400F twice a week to Zaragoza as an extension of the existing Hong Kong service to Dubai.
The routeing now takes in Dubai, Amsterdam and Zaragoza, before returning to Cathay's home hub at Hong Kong International airport via Dubai.
Nick Rhodes, Cathay Pacific director cargo, commented that Spain is "a fast-growing market as a result of the recent growth of the garment industry.
"The market has great potential, with Spanish companies looking to expand further their business into Asia.
"In addition to serving Zaragoza, we will also develop other major Spanish destinations by providing a trucking service from the city to Barcelona, Madrid and other key commercial centres," Rhodes noted.
Cathay Pacific Cargo recently took delivery of its first B747-8 freighter and three more are scheduled for delivery before the end of this year.
