Session I
Airline Cargo CEOs Look at Market Access.
Airline CEOs look at the markets served by their companies
and describe the routes served, volumes transported, yields
and commodities carried. Do the Governments of those countries
served encourage market access through liberal policies? Are
regulations to obtain landing rights cumbersome and difficult
to obtain? Are air cargo facilities at airports served adequately
provided and fairly priced? Is jet fuel readily available
at competitive prices? Do the airports served permit carriers
to provide their own ground services? What is the growth potential
in markets served?
Moderator: Paul Page, Editor, Air Cargo
World.
Speakers: Alexey Isaikin, President &
CEO, Volga-Dnepr Group
Ulrich Ogiermann, President & CEO, Cargolux Airlines
International

Session II
The Impact of Air Cargo on the Global Economy.
Air cargo is not just a trade facilitator, it is a trade creator
that contributes to the competitive advantage of nations.
A strong statistical relationship therefore exists between
levels of air cargo volume and both GDF and GDP per capita.
A panel of economists, government ministers and business analysts
examines the influence of efficient, cost-effective air cargo
services on national economies and their contribution to industrialization,
job creation and higher standards of living.

Session III
The View From the Top. Shippers’ perspective
of the air cargo services available in some of the world’s
most promising markets: Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC).
Is there adequate freighter capacity to satisfy demand for
imports and exports? Do rates and government policies encourage
or discourage the use of air cargo? What role is played the
freight forwarder for the shipper? Are the forwarder’s
services challenged or complemented by the express carrier?
What changes are needed to help shippers? What is the potential
growth for shippers in these markets? (Discussion format)

Session IV
Help, We’re Drowning in Paper! IATA
claims that the air cargo industry could fill 39 Boeing 747
freighters each year with paper wasted on documentation. In
33 years the average time for an air cargo shipment has only
been reduced from 6.5 days to 6 days. Paperless cargo processing
could save the industry $1.2 billion each year and reduce
shipping time by 25%. What must the industry do to effect
these changes?
